Dental Crowns in Mount Kisco
That moment when you discover part of your tooth is missing or damaged, you wonder if your teeth can be restored to look natural. You could also see serious decay on your teeth and panic that you could lose your entire tooth. In many cases, a crown can be the answer.
At Schwartz Dental Care, our dentists can place a dental crown on your tooth to preserve it. And our highly skilled dentists routinely place crowns that are indistinguishable from your natural teeth.
What Are Dental Crowns?
A crown is a covering for your tooth that can restore a tooth, so it has the same shape and size as your original teeth. A crown may also enhance the appearance and function of the tooth.
You may have seen unsightly crowns made out of metal or a mismatched porcelain color. Our cosmetic dentists at Schwartz Dental Care only use high quality porcelains and other modern tooth colored materials to mimic the look of your natural teeth.
Reasons for Dental Crowns
Dental crowns can correct a large cavity that our dentist can’t repair using a filling. We may also suggest this dental treatment if you have any of the following:
- Cracked or broken teeth
- Decayed teeth
- Poorly shaped teeth
- Tooth with a root canal
- Severe discoloration
About the Procedure of Receiving Dental Crowns
In most cases, you can expect to have two visits to get your new crown. During the first appointment, our dentist removes the outer region of your tooth along with any decay. Sometimes, you may need to have the core of your tooth built up to support the crown. Our dentist then takes an impression of your tooth to send to the dental laboratory for fabrication of your crown. A temporary crown will be placed to protect the remaining tooth from further damage.
At your second visit, our dentist inserts the permanent crown. Before cementation, we will work with you to ensure you’re satisfied with how the tooth looks. Both visits are pain free, and result in a new tooth that looks and feels natural.
